This eco-friendly all-timber lodge has been built into a hillside above one of the most beautiful and pristine rivers in New Zealand - the upper Waihou.
The lodge is situated in a private setting on a working sheep and cattle property, just a ten minute walk from the start of the Te Waihou walkway. This walkway follows the spring-fed upper reaches of the Waihou river for 4.7km, through farmland and native bush.
For fly or lure fishing enthusiasts, the gin-clear waters of this river are renowned for holding large numbers of elusive rainbow trout, which thrive in the pure cold water.
Waihou lodge is a perfect base for families or groups wanting to explore the Central North Island (Waitomo, Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupo ), honeymooning couples, or those simply wanting a peaceful getaway to relax and unwind.
Located down a quiet, no exit road, 10 minutes from Tirau township (boutique shopping, cafes, golf ), the lodge sleeps 7 people and features gas cooking, dishwasher, double bath/rainshower, woodburner and barbeque.
